RideTandem has partnered with the Social Recruitment Advocacy Group (SRAG).
The organisation was set up to encourage employers to recruit people who face challenges securing employment. This could be people with disabilities, young people, unpaid carers or those leaving the criminal justice system.
RideTandem CEO, Alex Shapland-Howes, said: "We’re super excited to partner with SRAG, an organisation that shares our commitment to making employment accessible to all.
“Together, we're working to remove obstacles that prevent so many people from getting to work and help businesses find the workers they need."
On the same journey
SRAG’s aims align with what we do at RideTandem every day.
Founded by Alex Shapland-Howes, Tatseng Chiam, and Huw McLeod, RideTandem supports people struggling to get to work alongside helping businesses recruit and retain staff.
Alex met a group of unemployed dads in Rochdale, just outside Manchester, discussing the problems they were having finding work. The biggest barrier was transportation. Without local jobs or reliable public transport, the dads struggled to provide for their families.
This meeting sparked the creation of RideTandem in 2019. Since then, shuttle bus services have achieved:
- £85million earned by users of our services
- More than 16,000 tonnes of CO2 avoided
- Two million passenger journeys
- Three million miles travelled
- Eight million hours of work enabled
The partnership between RideTandem and SRAG is a significant milestone in our journey towards creating affordable, reliable, and sustainable commuter services.
Partnering with like-minded businesses
The collaboration between RideTandem and SRAG takes the strengths of both organisations to make a difference in recruitment. SRAG members like G4S, Staffline Recruitment and Lidl, share the common goal of tapping into overlooked talent and addressing barriers based on social capital, ethnicity, or disability.
The first B Corp certified shuttle service
Earlier this year, RideTandem became the first, and only, B Corp certified shuttle bus service.
Started in 2006 by B Lab, businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency are able to become B Corp certified.
This latest partnership with SRAG shows a continued push towards meeting high standards of performance, accountability and transparency.
Alongside this, signing the SRAG Social Recruitment Covenant further underlines our commitment to create a fairer job market.
