With the end of 2024 fast approaching, we have something else to celebrate - being named as one of the fastest growing tech companies in the UK.
The prestigious Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 is the UK’s foremost technology awards programmes. RideTandem placed 9th in the list overall and 2nd in the cleantech category.
Being included alongside previous winners like Deliveroo, Skyscanner and Revolut shows the phenomenal growth RideTandem has achieved over the past year.
RideTandem’s success reflects the increasing importance of accessible, sustainable transport solutions across the country.
Alex Shapland-Howes, CEO of RideTandem, said: “Being named in the Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 is a powerful reminder that mission-driven businesses can grow, scale, and succeed, while still creating real impact.”
A year of achievements for RideTandem
We are proud to be the only supplier of commuting services globally to be an accredited B Corp - recognising our commitment to communities and the planet as well as growing our own business.
Investing in our team is vital. In 2024, we also earned a spot on the Sunday Times Best Place to Work list as well as gaining accreditation as a Living Wage Employer.
Alex added: “This year has been a true highlight in our journey to make mobility more accessible for all.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to build a service that bridges the transportation gap in underserved areas, and it’s incredibly gratifying to see the difference our work is making across communities in the UK.”
Impressive growth
Ranked alongside tech companies like ZOE, Moneybox and Wagestream, RideTandem's three-year growth rate has put it alongside some of the most exciting UK tech companies.
“Being one of the fastest growing technology companies in the UK is an impressive accomplishment. We commend RideTandem for making the Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 with a phenomenal 3,113% growth rate over three years,” said Kiren Asad, Deloitte’s technology partner for London.
The RideTandem journey so far
RideTandem was founded in response to a pressing problem faced by workers and communities alike: lack of reliable, affordable transportation. Particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, transportation often stands as a barrier to employment, limiting people’s ability to reach jobs and companies’ access to talent. Seeing this gap, RideTandem was founded with a mission to offer a solution that didn’t just provide transport, but also drove employment and economic inclusion.
Starting in 2018, RideTandem partnered with local taxi, coach, and minibus operators to create reliable shuttle services tailored to the specific needs of employers and their workforce. Five years later, the company’s partnerships extend across industries, with a focus on sectors where reliable transport is crucial, including food manufacturing, warehouses and education. Surpassing 2 million passenger journeys earlier in 2024, we’ve also supported people to earn more than £66 million in wages in jobs they couldn’t have reached without our shuttle bus services.
People supporting people: Our 24/7 fully-managed service
What sets RideTandem apart is a deep commitment to customer service. From meeting new customers face to face, spending time on site to meet workers and hear about their transport challenges to the ongoing relationship between a dedicated account manager and businesses running a shuttle bus service - we are continually going the extra mile.
“Transport is about people,” said Alex. “We know that when businesses reach out to us, they are struggling with recruitment, retention and growing their businesses. Every passenger that uses our service is important to us - they’re relying on our transport to get to work safely. We take that responsibility seriously and go above and beyond to provide the highest level of service and support.”
Our 24/7 fully-managed service is at the core of RideTandem’s operations, ensuring every client has access to real-time assistance and support, at 3pm or 3am. And you’ll speak to a real person within seconds - our customer service statistics speak for themselves:
- 9 seconds is the average time it takes for the RideTandem team to answer a call.
- 11 seconds is the average wait time for calls to the 24/7 support team.
- 73% of calls are resolved in under three minutes.
These metrics reflect our team’s commitment to efficiency and dedication to solving problems quickly and effectively.
The future of mobility-as-a-service
Looking ahead, our vision remains rooted in its mission: to improve access to employment through reliable, sustainable, and people-centric transport solutions.
We recently partnered with SRAG - the Social Recruitment Advocacy Group which encourages employers to recruit people who face challenges securing employment. This could be people with disabilities, young people, unpaid carers or those leaving the criminal justice system.
What next in 2025? We’ve got big plans. We’re investing in our technology to further improve the experience for passengers and allow businesses to see even more data about their passenger numbers, route efficiency and carbon emissions data.
As RideTandem moves into the future, the company’s growth reflects the strength of its mission and the dedication of its team. “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who’s been a part of this journey with us,” Alex added. “From our passengers and partners to our incredible team, we’ve built something that has the power to change lives and communities—and we’re just getting started.”
